Security Survey Over the Skies of Kansas City,
by Steve Rodgers
- Security
PS is moving to new heights when it comes to wireless
security. President and CEO Steve Rodgers recently
combined his curiosity about wireless security
with his life-long passion for aviation. In a short
trip around the Greater Kansas City area Rodgers
surveyed access points in an area of over 60 miles.
Nearly five years ago, Security PS conducted a
wireless survey of KC and captured information
on about 500 access points while wardriving the
city. "From the air, we were able to capture
nearly 6,100 access points in under 45 minutes" said
Rodgers. In summary, only about 10% of the devices
had a strong level of security enabled and nearly
35% had no security enabled at all.
